"However, I fell in love..."

Last summer I was looking for a job like a crazy woman. I emailed countless stables, determined to find a horse-related job, but scared enough of regection to not just pick up the phone and call. Ridiculous, I've heard. I eventually got a job (this february, actually) working at a local restraunt. It was ok, and I eventually gave up my dream of horses.

One day, I was checking my emails like I usually do. I had an email from a local stable telling me they wanted a working student. I was SO happy! I called them and we set up a date to meet. When that day came, (last thursday) I was so eager I left like an hour too early. I ended up walking around wal-mart to kill time. Ha. Anyway, I rode a horse named Freeze, and the trainer assessed my skills. She said I had great balance and great potentiel to go far! YES! I'm mucking stalls in return for private lessons, which will eventually turn into a half-lease on a horse once I pick one I want and what discipline I am interested in.

I went back the next Monday, and I rode a horse names Judylicious, a 4 y/o race bred pinto/paint registered mare. Honestly, I thought she'd be a total hothead at four, and being bred like she was. However, I fell in love. She rode like a dream, listening to the slightest shift of my seat and the lightest tightening of the rein. My trainer said she usually had more go in her, but she acted like a better horse with me. She also said she liked me on Judy. Definite lease possibility.

Right now, I'm brainwashing myself with Charmayne James DVDs. I'm going to work on barrels with Judy, and eventually compete. Also, Judy is started in jumping and she's good at that as well. I would LOVE to ride some english too, and compete in the future. I can't imagine a better match than Judy, but I don't know if my trainer with have me try other horses just in case.

I'm going tomorrow to ride & muck, wish me luck!
Rhyme unintended, but I think it worked out well! :)

"No 'h', don't ask me why..."

I've loved horses ever since I can remember. I started riding in pre-k (age 4?) with a friend of the family who has always had horses. I would ride a little shetland named Zorro, who was probably not the best kid's horse. At age 5/6, I took a few lessons in basic western (as basic as any 5/6 year old would be, lol). My memory is quite spotty on specifics at that point. From 1st-3rd grade, I participated in playdays with my friends on their horses. Cantering to and trotting around barrels was the best we ever did. I'm looking at a first place ribbon I have back then and the time says 33 seconds. Wow.

I got my first horse when I was 8. Her name was Wisper (no H.. don't ask me why). She was a goofy sorrel mare that was 14. She was lazy, and she often bucked. Cantering for me was a rare experience, because it happened in short bursts followed by bucking. I did a few playdays on this mare, and I even went through a jumping phase where I trotted her over tiny "jumps" made of bricks and an occasional pole stacked on one another. I eventually sold her because I was bored of having no goal to work towards and little time to ride.

Before I sold Wisper, I got a horse named Lucky. He was a QH gelding, bay... age unknown. If I would've seen him today, I would've known he wasn't quite right. He was stiff on his legs and his coat was dull. He had a strange odor to him, that of medicine. The man that sold him was a shady character, to top it all off. Anyway, he was as stubborn as they come, and he ended up getting equine herpes viris (or so we suspect. Our vet knows nothing it seems...). He went down one day in the pasture (his back legs seemed to not work). He was put down.

Since then I've had a miniature horse, just because I love horses. He was really easy going and let me do what I wanted to him, but in the end he was sold too.

I've missed riding more than anyone but a true horselover could know.

"I created this for myself..."

Yeah, it's another blog about horses. No, I've never read any other blogs religiously because, frankly, I get bored. Oh, and I'm lazy about reading stuff on the internet. I have no clue how similar this one is/will be to other ones, so pardon my "just another blog about horses" state as I get a feel for this.

My blog was created as a sort of journal for my horse life. I don't really have any "horse friends" that understand and that I can confide in about all my horse adventures. Sorry for the emo-ness just now lol. But in all actuallity, I created this for myself, I'm not after a zillion followers that worship me. I just want to look back and think, "Wow, I've come a long way."

So, if you keep up with me or even just read a few posts, thanks!
